Less than two weeks after it was officially opened, the Skye Bridge was closed for the first time to some traffic because of high winds.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning the wind speed, which was gusting in excess of 70mph, had gone past the 'threshold' for some vehicles. The bridge was therefore closed for over half an hour to motorcycles, caravans and box-sided vehicles.
It may be the warmest October on record, but Winter has arrived in NW Scotland!
